What are the signs of a failing DQ381 DSG mechatronic in a VW Arteon?

Typical symptoms are a gearbox malfunction or transmission warning light, limp mode, harsh or delayed gear changes, and no drive in some gears. Stored fault codes are typically P173500 (Position Sensor For Clutch 1, Electrical Malfunction) and P173600 (Position Sensor For Clutch 2, Electrical Malfunction).

Fault codes this repair covers

Fitment

This listing covers the VW Arteon 2017 Onwards fitted with the DQ381 7-speed DSG. Engines covered: 2.0 TDI and 2.0 TSI. If you are not sure which gearbox your vehicle has, contact us first and we will confirm.

Warranty Terms for This Repair

  • Our 24-month warranty on this repair is conditional on a full transmission oil and filter change being carried out at the time of refitting.
  • Please keep proof of this, such as a paid invoice from a garage or workshop. It will be requested if you ever need to make a warranty claim.
  • This is a transmission component, and correctly completing the fit requires the correct basic settings, adaptations and teach-in procedure for your gearbox to be carried out afterwards.
  • If you carry out the oil and filter change yourself, keep your own dated records, such as receipts and confirmation the adaptations were completed, as equivalent proof for a claim.
