Mercedes 7G-DCT dual-clutch gearbox control unit (TCU) cloning
Mercedes with a "Transmission fault. Visit workshop." message, jerking when pulling away, slipping between gears or no drive? If your 7G-DCT control unit (TCU, VGS2-FDCT) has failed, we clone your original unit's data onto a matching replacement unit so it works on your car without dealer coding.
Unit covered
- Mercedes 7G-DCT (724.0 / 724.1) transmission control unit, VGS2-FDCT
- Part numbers include A0054463310, A2C73939004 (5-pin) and A0054463710 (4-pin). The two connector types are not interchangeable, so message us the number on your unit before posting.
Mercedes models fitted with the 7G-DCT
- A-Class W176: A180, A200, A220, A250
- B-Class W246: B180, B200, B220, B250
- CLA C117 and Shooting Brake X117: CLA 180, 200, 220, 250
- GLA X156: GLA 180, 200, 220, 250
Fitted from about 2012-2013 to 2019-2020 depending on model. Not every engine has the dual-clutch gearbox, so check that your car is a 7G-DCT.
Common symptoms
- "Transmission fault. Visit workshop." on the dash
- Jerking or harsh engagement at low speed, slipping between gears, no drive or limp mode
- Fault codes in the P17XX range, P1890 (clutch regulation) or P1872 (actuator)
How it works
- Message us your car and the part number on your unit: 0203 489 2610.
- Post us your original unit and the replacement unit (part numbers must match).
- We transfer the data, bench test it and post it back.
