Mercedes W212 E-Class ISM Repair — 7G-Tronic No Drive | The Vehicle Check

The Mercedes W212 E-Class fitted with the 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox uses an ISM module that is susceptible to the same failure modes as the W204 unit. When the W212 ISM fails, the gearbox has no drive — the selector lever moves but all gear positions produce no movement. P0705 and P0706 are the primary fault codes stored. The Vehicle Check repairs and clones Mercedes W212 E-Class ISM modules at component level via our nationwide mail-in service.

W212 ISM Fault Diagnosis

The W212 ISM is mounted on the 7G-Tronic gearbox body and is exposed to significant heat and vibration. Internal solder joint fatigue and power transistor failure are the primary causes of no-drive faults on W212 vehicles. The fault can appear gradually — intermittent no-drive that clears on restart — before becoming permanent.

W212 models most commonly affected include the E200, E220, E250, E300 and E350 with 7G-Tronic gearbox, produced from 2009 to 2016.

ISM Repair and Cloning

We carry W212-specific ISM test procedures and repair data. Component-level repair restores the original ISM to full function — the repaired module fits back without any programming. Where cloning is required we transfer the original module data to a tested donor W212 ISM.

All repaired and cloned ISM units are bench tested before return with a full repair report.
