Removing the FRM3 footwell module is a straightforward job that most BMW and MINI owners can do with basic tools in under 20 minutes. The module sits behind the driver's footwell trim panel — usually retained by plastic clips and a single wiring harness connector.

General steps (always confirm with a model-specific guide for your vehicle):

1. Disconnect your vehicle battery before starting.
2. Remove the lower driver's footwell trim panel — this usually unclips without tools on most E-series BMWs.
3. Locate the FRM3 unit — a rectangular black module, typically marked with a BMW part number starting 61.35.
4. Disconnect the multi-pin wiring connector (press the tab and pull firmly).
5. Unscrew or unclip the module from its bracket and remove it.

• Use a tracked postal service. Royal Mail Tracked 48 or a next-day courier such as DPD or Evri are all fine. Keep your tracking number until your module is safely back with you.
• Do not seal the outer connector ports — leave them accessible so our engineers can connect test equipment without disturbing your packaging.
