Ford Transit Custom ACM No Sound Fault — Amplifier Repair | The Vehicle Check
The Ford Transit Custom is one of the most popular light commercial vehicles in the UK, and its ACM amplifier fault — complete loss of audio while all controls continue to work — is a fault we repair regularly. The Transit Custom uses a similar ACM architecture to the passenger Ford range but operates in a more demanding electrical environment. The Vehicle Check repairs Transit Custom ACM units at component level. We cover all Transit Custom generations and audio specifications.
Transit Custom ACM Failure Modes
The Transit Custom ACM commonly fails due to voltage stress from the commercial vehicle environment — repeated battery drain, jump starting and high auxiliary electrical loads accelerate capacitor and output transistor degradation. The most common presentation is sudden complete audio loss following a battery-related event.
Gradual audio loss — volume reducing, intermittent dropout before permanent silence — is also common and indicates progressive capacitor failure on the output board.
Full Bench Test Repair
We test every Transit Custom ACM across all speaker channels before and after repair. The specific failed component is identified and replaced. Our test confirms correct output levels on all channels before the unit is returned.
We cover all Transit Custom ACM variants including SYNC 1, SYNC 2 and DAB-equipped units.
