The Ford Fiesta Durashift EST (Electronically controlled Sequential Transmission) uses a clutch actuator to control engagement and disengagement of the clutch electronically. It's a single-clutch automated manual gearbox — the same fundamental design as the Fiat Dualogic and Vauxhall Easytronic, just with Ford's own actuator design.
When the actuator develops a fault — typically an internal motor failure, position sensor drift or electronic board fault — the results are immediate and obvious. The car either won't pull away at all, engages gears violently, or warns of a gearbox fault. We repair the actuator at component level, returning it fixed and warranted for far less than the cost of a new or used replacement unit.
