Ford Durashift EST Clutch Actuator Fault and Repair | The Vehicle Check

The Ford Durashift EST (Easy Shift Transmission) is a robotised single-clutch automated manual gearbox fitted to the Fiesta MK5, Fiesta MK6 and Fusion. When the Durashift clutch actuator fails the gearbox enters limp mode, stores fault codes P0810 or P0900, and the characteristic Durashift judder on take-off becomes extreme or the car refuses to select any gear. The Vehicle Check repairs Ford Durashift EST clutch actuators at component level via our nationwide mail-in service.

Ford Durashift Fault Codes Explained

P0810 on the Durashift indicates a clutch position control error — the TCU is commanding clutch movement but the actuator is not reaching the required position within the time limit. This is most commonly caused by a worn actuator motor or a failed position sensor. P0900 indicates an actuator circuit open fault — no signal from the actuator motor or sensor, pointing to a PCB or wiring fault.

The Fiesta MK5 1.4 Durashift and Fiesta MK6 1.4 Durashift are the most common vehicles we repair. The Ford Fusion 1.4 and 1.6 Durashift uses the same actuator assembly.

Component-Level Durashift Actuator Repair

We strip the Durashift actuator, test the DC motor, Hall effect position sensor, PCB assembly and mechanical drive individually. Motor replacement and Hall sensor replacement are the two most common repairs. After repair we calibrate the actuator on the bench before return.

We carry Durashift-specific test data and hold experience across all Durashift EST variants.
