Ford BCM Body Control Module Cloning – Mail-In Repair UK

Ford BCM Body Control Module Cloning – UK Mail-In Service
Your Ford starts acting up in ways that don't quite make sense — lights doing what they want, central locking behaving oddly, windows freezing mid-travel, or the dash throwing a catalogue of seemingly unrelated faults. Nine times out of ten, the body control module is right at the centre of it. The good news? You don't need a Ford dealer appointment, a week without your car, or a bill that makes your eyes water. At The Vehicle Check we clone Ford BCMs by post, across the whole of the UK, with a 3–5 day turnaround and free tracked return included as standard.
What Does Ford BCM Cloning Actually Mean?
BCM cloning means transferring all of your original module's security credentials, vehicle configuration and stored data onto a replacement unit — so the new module behaves exactly as if it were born with your car. Unlike a straight swap with a blank module from a breaker, a cloned BCM already knows your vehicle's VIN, your key codes, your comfort settings and your lighting configuration the moment it's fitted. No additional dealer programming is needed. No key re-learning ceremony. No PATS security lockout. You fit it, and it works.
This matters enormously with Ford, because Ford's BCM architecture — particularly across the Fiesta Mk7/Mk8, Focus Mk3/Mk4, Transit Custom and Mondeo Mk5 — ties the module tightly into the PATS immobiliser network. A replacement BCM that hasn't been cloned simply won't allow the engine to start. Dealers know this, which is why their quotes for BCM replacement always carry a programming charge on top of the part. We skip that entirely by cloning from the source.
Which Ford Models Do We Cover?
We work with BCMs from across the Ford lineup — if it's Ford, send it and we'll assess it. The vehicles we see most regularly include:
- Ford Fiesta (Mk6, Mk7, Mk8 — 2002–2026)
- Ford Focus (Mk2, Mk3, Mk4 — 2004–2026)
- Ford Mondeo (Mk4, Mk5 — 2007–2024)
- Ford Transit & Transit Custom (2006–2026)
- Ford Transit Connect (2013–2026)
- Ford Kuga (Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 — 2008–2026)
- Ford Puma (2019–2026)
- Ford S-Max & Galaxy (2006–2024)
- Ford EcoSport, Edge & Ranger

Why Does the Ford BCM Fail in the First Place?
Ford BCMs fail for a handful of predictable reasons. Water ingress from leaking windscreen seals or sunroofs is the most common culprit — the module sits in locations that are vulnerable on many Ford platforms. Voltage spikes from a dying battery or a faulty alternator can corrupt internal memory. Age-related capacitor failure affects older units on pre-2012 Fiestas and Focuses in particular. And occasionally a well-meaning technician flashes the wrong data onto a module during a routine update. Whatever has gone wrong with yours, cloning works independently of the fault — we use your module's stored data as the source, extract it, and write it faithfully to a known-good replacement.
How Does the Mail-In Process Work?
The process is genuinely straightforward and designed so that anyone comfortable with basic DIY can manage it:
- Remove your BCM. Location varies by model — on the Fiesta and Focus it's typically behind the glovebox or beneath the dashboard on the passenger side. Your workshop manual or a quick model-specific forum search will confirm exact location. If you're not comfortable with removal, any local garage can do this in under 30 minutes.
- Package it safely. Wrap the module in bubble wrap — at least two layers — and place it in a rigid cardboard box with padding on all sides. An anti-static bag is ideal if you have one, but not essential. Don't use envelope-style packaging; BCMs are PCB assemblies and need to be properly protected. Include your name, return address and vehicle registration on a note inside the box.
- Send it to us. Use Royal Mail Special Delivery or a tracked courier service. Our address is: Office 13, 25 Mollison Avenue, Enfield, EN3 7LW. Keep your tracking number until the job is complete.
- We get to work. Once your module arrives, we assess it, carry out the clone process using our professional-grade equipment, and test the output thoroughly before dispatch.
- We return it, free. Your cloned module comes back to you via fully tracked courier, included in the price. Typical return time from dispatch is next working day.
How Long Does Ford BCM Cloning Take?
Our standard turnaround is 3–5 working days from the day your module lands with us. In practice, many jobs are completed within 2–3 days. We'll contact you as soon as your module arrives, and again when it's on its way back. You're never left wondering where things stand.
Why Choose Mail-In Over a Ford Dealer?
Dealers have access to Ford's IDS and FDRS programming systems, but they're built around selling new parts. A dealer quoting for BCM replacement is almost always quoting for a brand-new module plus programming time — a combination that regularly runs to £400–£900 depending on the model. We clone your existing data, which means the only cost is our skilled time and equipment. The saving is meaningful. Beyond cost, mail-in means your car is only off the road for the time it takes to remove and refit the module — not a week waiting for a dealer slot.
If you're within 60 miles of Enfield, you're also welcome to drive in and we can often turn the work around while you wait. But for most of our customers across the UK, mail-in is simply the smarter option.
What Makes The Vehicle Check Different?
We've been repairing and cloning automotive electronics since well before cloning became fashionable as a cost-saving measure — and the depth of experience shows. Our engineers work across the full spectrum of automotive modules: BCMs, ECUs, ABS units, airbag modules, immobilisers and more. We're not a parts-swapping operation. We understand what's inside these modules at a circuit and software level, which means we can identify when a clone alone isn't sufficient and a repair is needed first. That's the kind of nuance you don't get from a workshop that does BCM cloning as a side-line.
Explore more of what we do: our ECU repair service covers a wide range of brands and faults, our ABS module repair page explains how we tackle ABS faults by post, and our full mail-in repair guide walks you through everything you need to know about sending a module safely.
