Ford ACM No Sound — Speakers Cut Out While Driving | The Vehicle Check
Ford speakers that cut out intermittently while driving — then return when the car is restarted — indicate a thermally sensitive ACM amplifier fault. As the ACM heats up during use, a failing internal component loses its electrical properties and the audio cuts out. When the car is restarted and the ACM is cool, the fault temporarily disappears. This thermal pattern indicates a failing output transistor, a degraded solder joint or a capacitor that fails at operating temperature. The Vehicle Check repairs Ford ACM thermal faults at component level.
Thermal Faults in Ford ACM Units
The ACM generates heat during normal operation, particularly at moderate to high audio volumes. Components beginning to fail work correctly at cold start but break down once the unit reaches operating temperature — typically 20 to 30 minutes into a journey.
Identifying a thermal fault requires testing the ACM at elevated temperature. Our bench rig applies controlled heat during the audio test sequence to replicate the in-car thermal environment and capture the fault reliably.
Permanent Component-Level Repair
Once the thermally sensitive component is identified we replace it and improve local thermal management where possible. This produces a permanent repair rather than a temporary fix. We cover all Ford ACM variants across Focus, Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy, C-Max and Kuga.
Every repaired ACM is tested at elevated temperature before return to confirm the thermal fault has been resolved.
