Ford ACM Audio Control Module Repair – Nationwide Mail-In Service
Your Ford's gone quiet — not because the music stopped, but because the audio control module has given up. No sound, a dead screen, a unit stuck in a reboot loop, or a system that simply refuses to respond to any input. It's one of those faults that makes every journey feel longer than it should. The good news? You don't need a new unit, a main dealer appointment, or an eye-watering parts invoice. Send your ACM to TVC, and we'll have it repaired and back on your doorstep in days.
At The Vehicle Check, automotive electronics is all we do. Our workshop in Enfield handles ACM repairs from across the UK every week — Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy, Kuga, C-Max, Transit and beyond. Whether your unit has developed an internal fault, suffered power surge damage, or just gradually deteriorated over time, our engineers work at component level to find and fix the actual problem rather than swap in a replacement and send you a big bill.
What Is an ACM and Why Does It Fail on Ford Vehicles?
The Audio Control Module is the brain behind your Ford's infotainment and audio system — it handles everything from volume and source switching to DAB reception, Bluetooth connectivity, and communication with other modules on the CANbus network. On most modern Fords, it's a sealed electronic unit mounted behind the dashboard, and when it fails, the symptoms tend to be hard to ignore.
Common ACM faults we see at TVC include:
- Complete audio loss — no sound from any source
- Touchscreen unresponsive or frozen at startup
- Continuous reboot cycling (the unit keeps restarting)
- DAB or FM reception lost while other functions work
- Bluetooth pairing fails or drops constantly
- Error messages on the instrument cluster related to the audio system
- Unit powers on but produces no output
- Intermittent faults that come and go with temperature or vibration
These faults are almost always caused by failed capacitors, degraded solder joints, corrupted firmware, or component-level failures on the main PCB — all of which are repairable without replacing the whole unit.

Why Is Mail-In Repair a Better Option Than Going to a Ford Dealer?
Mail-in repair with TVC beats the dealer route on almost every measure that matters to you as a driver or fleet manager — cost, speed, and outcome.
Here's the honest comparison:
| Factor | Ford Dealer | TVC Mail-In |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | New unit + labour + programming | Repair only — fraction of the price |
| Your original unit | Discarded or returned unchecked | Repaired and returned to you |
| Programming | New unit often needs VIN coding | Your unit retains its coding |
| Turnaround | Days to weeks (parts availability) | 3–5 working days typical |
| Need to visit | Yes — and leave your vehicle | No — post it from anywhere in the UK |
If you're within 60 miles of Enfield and prefer to drop your unit in directly, our workshop at Office 13, 25 Mollison Avenue, Enfield, EN3 7LW is open for drive-in visits. But for most customers across the UK, the mail-in route is simpler, faster and just as effective.
How Do I Package My Ford ACM Safely for Posting?
Packaging your ACM correctly before posting protects both the unit and your claim if something goes wrong in transit. Follow these steps and your module will arrive with us in exactly the condition you sent it.
- Disconnect the battery before removal. Always remove the unit with the vehicle powered down to avoid secondary electrical damage.
- Wrap in anti-static bubble wrap. Standard bubble wrap is fine for physical protection, but anti-static wrap prevents electrostatic discharge damaging the PCB. You can find it cheaply online.
- Place in a rigid box. Don't use a padded envelope — use a small cardboard box with at least 3–4cm of padding around all sides of the unit.
- Include your contact details. Put a note inside the box with your full name, phone number, email address, vehicle registration, and a brief description of the fault. This saves time and ensures your unit doesn't sit waiting for identification.
- Use a tracked service. Royal Mail Tracked 48, Evri, DPD or ParcelForce all work well. Keep your tracking number until the repair is complete and your unit is back home.

Return shipping is included in your repair — we send your unit back on a fully tracked service at no extra charge.
What Happens to My ACM Once It Arrives at TVC's Workshop?
The moment your unit lands with us, it's logged, labelled with your details, and queued for bench diagnostics. Our engineers don't guess — they test methodically. Every Ford ACM that comes through the door gets:
- Visual inspection for physical damage, corrosion, or burn marks
- Component-level testing of capacitors, resistors, and ICs
- Power supply and voltage rail checks
- Solder joint inspection under magnification
- Firmware integrity checks where applicable
- Full functional test before it leaves the bench
Once repaired and tested, we'll contact you to confirm completion and dispatch your unit with tracked return delivery. Most repairs complete within 3–5 working days of receipt. If we identify a fault that falls outside standard repair scope, we'll call you before doing anything and talk through your options — no hidden charges, no surprises.
Why Trust TVC With Your Ford's Electronics?
The Vehicle Check has been repairing automotive electronics for over a decade, working on units from Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Vauxhall, Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, Land Rover, Volvo and many more. Our engineers have hands-on experience with thousands of ACM, ECU, ABS, BCM and mechatronic units — this isn't a side service, it's what we do every single working day.
We're not a parts-swapping operation. We repair at component level, which means lower costs for you, less electronic waste, and — crucially — no reprogramming complications from fitting a secondhand or remanufactured replacement unit that hasn't been coded to your vehicle.
Our mail-in service exists because customers across the UK told us they wanted access to specialist-level repairs without having to travel to Enfield or settle for a dealer who'd rather sell them a new part. The postal service is our way of making proper electronics repair accessible nationwide.
