How Do You Package an Airbag Module Safely for Posting?

Protecting the module in transit is important — the electronic components inside are sensitive. Here's how to do it right:

1. Wrap in bubble wrap: Give the module at least two layers of bubble wrap, paying particular attention to the connector housing and any protruding pins.
2. Use a rigid outer box: A shoebox-sized cardboard box is ideal. Avoid padded envelopes — they offer very little impact protection.
3. Fill dead space: Scrunch up kraft paper or newspaper to fill any gaps so the module can't move around inside the box.
4. Seal and label clearly: Use packing tape on all seams. Write our address clearly on the outside: Office 13, 25 Mollison Avenue, Enfield, EN3 7LW.
5. Include your details: Pop a note inside with your name, return address, phone number, vehicle make, model and year, and a brief description of the crash or fault. This speeds up processing significantly.
6. Use a tracked service: Royal Mail Tracked 48 or a courier with tracking is strongly recommended so you can confirm delivery.

What's the Turnaround Time for a Mail-In Crash Data Reset?

Is a Crash Data Reset the Only Repair Your Airbag Module Might Need?

Not always. In some accidents — particularly where airbags deployed fully — the module may also have component-level damage caused by the deployment current. In those cases, a data reset alone won't be sufficient. Our technicians inspect every module on arrival and will assess whether a component-level repair is also required. If there's additional work needed, we'll contact you before proceeding. We won't charge for work you haven't approved.

For vehicles where the crash has also affected other electronic systems, our ABS module repair service and ECU repair and cloning service are also available by mail — often multiple modules can be sent together to save on turnaround time.
