How do I package my airbag module safely for posting?

Airbag modules are robust units designed to survive vehicle impacts — but sensible packaging makes the postal journey straightforward. Follow these steps:

• Disconnect the battery before removal and leave at least 15 minutes for the SRS capacitors to discharge before handling the module. This is important safety practice.
• Wrap in bubble wrap — at least two full layers, secured with tape so the module cannot move inside the wrap.
• Use a rigid cardboard box with at least 3–4 cm of void fill (more bubble wrap, foam or packing peanuts) on all sides. Avoid soft postal bags for this component.
• Include a note with your name, contact number, vehicle make, model and year, a brief description of the fault and how the fault occurred (minor bump, deployed airbags, unknown). This saves time and gets your job started faster.
• Use a tracked postal service — Royal Mail Tracked 48, DPD or Parcelforce all work well. Keep your tracking reference until the module is back with you.
