Step 1 — Remove the Airbag Module Safely

Disconnect your vehicle's battery and leave it disconnected for a minimum of 15 minutes. This is essential — it allows any residual charge in the SRS system capacitors to dissipate, preventing accidental airbag deployment during removal. The airbag module is typically located under the centre console, beneath the driver's seat, or behind the dashboard depending on the vehicle. Your vehicle's workshop manual or a quick model-specific search will confirm the exact location. The module is usually secured by two to four bolts and uses a multi-pin connector that unclips with a tab or slide.

Step 2 — Package It Properly

Wrap the module in bubble wrap — at least two layers — and place it inside a sturdy padded envelope or a small cardboard box with some additional padding. The module is a circuit board inside a plastic housing; it doesn't need extreme protection but it does need to survive a courier journey. Include a note with your full name, return address, contact phone number, vehicle make, model and year, and a brief description of what happened (collision type, whether airbags deployed, any warning lights). Step 3 — Post It Tracked
