How Should You Package Your Airbag Module for Posting?

Packaging it properly protects a component that can be surprisingly delicate at the connector pins — and it's simpler than you might think.

• Wrap the module completely in two or three layers of bubble wrap, paying particular attention to the connector ports.
• Place it in a rigid cardboard box — not a padded envelope. The module should not be able to move inside.
• Fill any empty space with more bubble wrap, crumpled packing paper or foam. Shake the box — if you can hear movement, add more padding.
• Include a brief note inside with your name, return address, vehicle make, model and year, and a contact number.
• Use a tracked and signed-for courier service (Royal Mail Tracked, DPD, Evri with tracking, DHL). Keep your tracking number until the module is back in your hands.

The module itself poses no posting risk once disconnected from the vehicle — there is no explosive charge inside an airbag control module. You're simply posting a small electronic circuit board.
