Citroen SensoDrive Clutch Actuator Fault and Repair | The Vehicle Check

The Citroen SensoDrive is an automated single-clutch manual gearbox fitted to the C2 and C3. When the SensoDrive clutch actuator fails, the characteristic symptom is violent juddering on gear changes followed by a refusal to change gear at all, with the gearbox defaulting to limp mode. The Vehicle Check repairs Citroen SensoDrive clutch actuators at component level. We cover the C2 and C3 SensoDrive across all engine variants via our nationwide mail-in service.

SensoDrive Fault Symptoms and Codes

The Citroen SensoDrive stores gearbox fault codes through the BSI or the dedicated SensoDrive TCU depending on the model year. Common faults are clutch position adaptation errors, actuator motor circuit faults and gear selection refusal — all pointing to a failing actuator motor or sensor.

The C2 SensoDrive and the C3 SensoDrive 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 variants all use the same Magneti Marelli actuator as the Peugeot 2-Tronic and Fiat Dualogic, making our repair experience directly transferable.

Component-Level SensoDrive Repair

We strip the SensoDrive actuator completely, test each component and repair at the level of the specific failure — DC motor replacement, Hall sensor replacement or PCB driver repair. Post-repair calibration is included and all units are bench tested before return.

We cover C2 SensoDrive and C3 SensoDrive across all production years.
