How Do I Send My Airbag Module to You by Post?

Removing an airbag SRS ECU sounds intimidating, but it's usually one of the simpler jobs on a car. In most vehicles — Ford, Vauxhall, BMW, VW Group, Renault — the module sits under the driver's seat or in the centre console tunnel, held by two to four bolts and a single wiring connector. Disconnect the battery, wait two minutes for the capacitors to discharge, unplug the connector, remove the bolts and lift it out. The whole job typically takes under 15 minutes with basic tools. Once you have it:

• Wrap the module in anti-static bubble wrap or a carrier bag if that's what you have — the important thing is padding
• Place it in a padded jiffy bag or a small cardboard box with scrunched paper around it so it can't rattle
• Write your name, phone number, vehicle make, model and year on a slip of paper inside the parcel
